How do I Use Uber for the First Time?

The Injury Firm 2 min read

The taxi of yesterday is long since gone. Those uniquely colored vehicles in a fleet operated by a company can still be found however but have long since been left with the dinosaurs of yesterday. Often, they would be operated by staff members of a particular company, seasoned veterans of the quickest way to your location, and the latest conversations to be had.

Today our busy lives take travel in a new direction. For those who don’t have a car or choose not to use it there is Uber, the exciting and chic way to travel where you need to go. You may wonder how a person can use Uber taxi for the first time.

Once you have loaded the app on your phone and set up all the necessary information you are ready to go. Make sure before you book the Uber taxi pickup however, that you are truly ready to go since it doesn’t take long for Uber to pick you up.

Community-based, basically a network of individuals that ride-share and rate each other on the experience and promote travel sharing. Since Uber taxi is a community and location-based ride-share it can be as soon as 5 minutes that you are picked up. This means that you and your stuff should be ready and at the door. No packing your things after you have booked the reservation.

Secondly, help the driver locate you. Be very specific where you are, even to the point of what you are wearing and what is directly around you. This ensures saving time for the driver and yourself but keeps the frustrations to a minimum since the driver doesn’t know you.

Thirdly, you want to send your address of the destination you are headed to, directly from the Uber app since Uber and the driver have to know where you are going, Do this as early as you are able to give the driver an idea.

The next tip is possibly the most important since it is a safety tip. This is a high priority, even if all the others are forgotten or cast to the wind. You may receive a unfair rating for lateness, incorrect information or delays of some sort but they are well worth it compared to any safety issues that may arise if this is forgotten.

Get the license plate information of the ride-share vehicle as well as the full name of the driver before entering the vehicle. Check the plate information with the Uber app on your phone, greet the driver by name and make sure that he knows your name. If something seems off, then don’t get in the vehicle. Better safe than sorry.

While these short tips are not exhaustive, they will ensure a first pleasant experience when using Uber. It may seem odd getting into someone’s vehicle, as opposed to the taxis of yesterday but with a little patience and practice you will be using Uber like a seasoned professional, embracing this modern mode of travel.
